BMW M5 build

The BMW M5. A notorious car, known for its luxury and status, but most notably its peak German engineering. On paper, this car may seem boring, but the real charm is under the hood. A 5-liter v10, that gets 6mpg on a good day, and is the most unreliable engine BMW has ever manufactured. Originally, BMW had created this engine for Williams’ F1 team 2000 season, which then paved the way for the creation of a 4-door family sedan with an almost exact replica of an F1 car engine, known as the e60 m5. I was lucky enough to acquire a 2006 BMW M5 with 69k miles on the dash, and the pending anxiety in the back of my head, waiting for something to break, but I had purposely bought the car for that reason. I knew how unreliable the v10 was and all the horror stories that came with it, but I had set out to challenge myself. After 100+ hours spent bending over into the engine bay, I had finally conquered all the issues with the v10 and made it whole. Along with instantaneous maintenance due to issues that would pop up out of thin air, the majority of the maintenance performed was preventative, an estimation based on how the engine sounded, how the car drove, and anything else that factored in. From throttle actuator gears cracking, to ABS speed sensors falsely reading due to excess brake dust, my hypothesis was correct every time and prevented any problems from appearing without my knowledge, limiting downtime, and increasing the extent of my abilities. Hullster Automotive would truly not have existed without the extensive pursuit of my passion for engineering and cars through maintaining the e60 m5, as well as the m5 being the driving factor in my pursuit to be challenged and develop a unique intellectual competence for the engineering behind cars.
