Jack’s Audi S4 is definitely something unique. Despite having 2 fewer cylinders than “normal”, jack has a supercharger from the factory strapped to a 3.0 V6. It is a unique setup that also yields some issues. My first run-in with this car was a coolant leak fix caused by a faulty install of an aftermarket heat exchanger. Since conceptually a heat exchanger is the same as an intercooler for a turbo car setup, I was able to quickly identify the leak; loose hose clamps. During idle the car wouldn’t leak at all, but once the water pump was spun faster in the higher rpm’s and the system pressurized, coolant was spraying everywhere. With the addition of silicone sealant, and torquing down the hose clamps, I assured Jack no coolant would ever leak again. Afterward, Jack came back for maintenance on his spark plugs and a quick bumper realignment. In the following months, I performed a test pipe install, removing the OEM cats sandwiched between the transmission and chassis, and installing a set of catless pipes in its place. This job took over 8 hours, requiring me to partially drop the transmission, remove endless heatshield, and try to find the correct geometrics to remove the pipe out of its place. This service has been one of the most demanding I’ve performed to date.
