During the summer of 2023, it was extremely hot and I wasn’t the only one suffering. My car was too. With over 180 degrees Fahrenheit IATs (intake air temperature), the heat of the V10 mixed with Texas was not a good match, increasing my oil temperature more than 30 degrees past its normal operating temperature of 210 degrees. So I sought to fix this problem by lowering the IAT’s to the coldest air possible, which happened to be any air-flowing air, as long as it wasn’t soaked with heat from inside the engine bay. My solution sat at the front of the car in the grilles where the coldest air would be as the car was moving. After taking off my bumper and surgically removing air duct trim, I was able to route a passageway of silicone tubing from my intake plenum to the front of the car. This dramatically lowered the IAT’s, to specifically any temperature the air was outside, increasing the engine’s efficiency, and lowering the oil temperature.
